Our third Climate Arena Conference took place on October 18–19, 2024, in Bologna, Italy, bringing together nearly 200 journalists from across Europe.
With 30 sessions, we explored topics like greenwashing in the finance sector, the climate cost of AI, corporate lobbying, food systems, animal welfare, and much more.
Participants attended data skills workshops, roundtables, and networking sessions in a venue buzzing with energy. So many ideas filled the air, and collaborations sparked at every coffee break. As one attendee said, “I’m so inspired that investigation ideas are coming out of my ears and nostrils” (We are still laughing at this)
Some highlights:
• Italian journalists made up a large portion of our attendees.
• 65% of our moderators and speakers identified as women.
• Women comprised 61% of all attendees.
• Speakers and attendees travelled from cities like Porto, Oslo, Kyiv, and Istanbul—many choosing trains and buses, with some journeys lasting almost 20 hours!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this event so inspiring. Below you can find the conference programme and photos.
