We are happy to offer a number of grants to help reduce financial barriers for journalists wishing to attend the conference. If selected, you’ll receive a lump sum of 600 euros and a complimentary conference ticket to attend Climate Arena 2025 on 10-11 October in Budapest, Hungary.
The grant is aimed towards journalists based in European countries with a lower average income. For the purposes of this call, these countries are:
Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, and Ukraine
We will prioritise freelancers, and staff of small, independent newsrooms. If you have attended Climate Arena before, you are still welcome to apply and may receive the grant. However, we will give priority to enthusiastic first-timers.
If you’re a journalist in exile in a higher income country, for example Germany or France, you’re welcome to apply.

Please keep in mind we will not arrange your accommodation or travel but you’ll be expected to do so with the lump sum of 600 euros that you’ll directly receive from us.
We are aware that the visa application process can be long and frustrating so, if you are selected, we will provide you with an invitation letter swiftly and will cover the visa cost (90 eur).
