Our fourth Climate Arena Conference took place on October 10–11 in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together 160 journalists, scientists, and researchers from across Europe.

We had 27 sessions covering topics ranging from investigating multinational corporations to hacking AirTags, and from analysing satellite data to investigating false climate solutions.

Participants attended data skills workshops, roundtables, and networking sessions, found new collaborators during every coffee break, and came up with new investigation ideas. “This is literally the best conference out there,” said one attendee. We are blushing.

We had an amazing group of volunteers who buzzed around all day to help our team – a big thank you 🫶🏼

Here are some highlights:

  • Journalists from UK, France and Germany were the top-3 most represented.
  • 60% of our moderators and speakers identified as women.
  • Women comprised 63% of all attendees.
  • Attendees came to the conference from all over Europe, from Finland to Kosovo to Turkey. As always, many chose train and bus journeys to reach Hungary, sometimes taking many, many hours!

A gigantic thank you to everyone who helped make this event so wonderful and inspiring, including Corvinus University, who welcomed a loud group of passionate journalists so enthusiastically!
